BMW will unveil i-battery solar charging storage technology

It is reported that BMW i Wallbox Pro adopts a new charging system that can use solar energy to generate driving force. It was originally designed to maximize the use of renewable energy. When daylight is insufficient or solar panels are not installed, the car will automatically consume the existing electricity in an economical way. BMW said that this move can save US customers up to 800 US dollars (about 4976 yuan) annually.

Julian Lienich, the project manager, said, “Our goal is to save users as much as possible and ensure that green energy is maximally utilized, but it doesn’t need to be blind.”

In addition, BMW will demonstrate the use of a special "fixed energy storage system" BMW i-Series batteries. BMW describes it as a concept product. Its main function is to collect and store solar energy, which can be used to recharge electric cars or to supply energy for homes. BMW explained that “using solar energy will help families achieve a higher level of energy self-sufficiency and minimize the impact of rising energy prices.”
