Deep Cycle VRLA GEL AGM Battery
There are two kinds of valve-controlled sealed lead-acid batteries: one is the use of ultrafine glass fiber diaphragm (AGM) valve-controlled sealed lead-acid batteries; One is the use of colloidal electrolyte (GFL) valve controlled sealed lead-acid battery (abbreviated as GFL-VRLA Battery).
They all use the cathode absorption principle to seal the battery. Therefore, there must be about 10% diaphragm gap in AGM-VRLA battery diaphragm, for GFL-VRLA battery, after the perfusion of silica sol into gel, skeleton to further shrink, silica sol viscosity should be controlled at about 10mPa.s, so that gel cracks through between positive and negative plates. Voids or cracks provide a channel for the oxygen precipitated from the positive plate to reach the negative electrode.
In the production of AGM-VRLA battery, too much perfusion electrolyte is not conducive to the recombination of oxygen in the cathode, and too much perfusion electrolyte will cause the internal resistance of AGM-VRLA battery to increase. In the production of GFL-VRLA battery, if the viscosity of silica sol is too high, that is, the amount of silicon solution is too large, it will cause cracks in the gel and increase the internal resistance of GFL-VRLA battery. On the contrary, it is not conducive to the recombination of oxygen in the cathode. Therefore, the valve-controlled sealed lead-acid battery requires very strict production technology.
1. Major differences in structure and process
Both AGM-VRLA batteries and GFL-VRLA batteries are sealed by cathode absorption principle. When the valve-controlled sealed lead-acid battery is charged, the positive electrode will release oxygen and the negative electrode will release hydrogen. Positive oxygen evolution starts when the positive charge reaches 70%. The precipitated oxygen reaches the negative electrode and reacts with the negative electrode in the following way to achieve the purpose of cathode absorption.
GEL batteries are in the minority, but they have unique advantages and are favored by the industry and users. The outstanding advantages of GEL battery are: long service life (up to 10-20 years); Withstand multiple charge and discharge cycles (up to 500-1500 cycles at 80%DoD); Tubular plate can be used for GEL batteries, longer service life; GEL battery has good deep discharge resistance; It can run under partial charge; No electrolyte delamination; High temperature performance is good; Almost no thermal runaway occurs. Only its price is higher than AGM Battery. GEL batteries are in the minority, but they have unique advantages and are favored by the industry and users. A few days ago from the French Embassy Technology News Department learned that the application of high-tech diesel technology in France recently attracted worldwide attention, new investment projects from Germany and Japan gathered in France.
The French automobile market ranks second in the use of diesel engines in Europe, and 71% of newly registered vehicles are equipped with diesel engines. Recently, many world-class suppliers have strengthened their investments in France. Bosch invested €65 million to build the Rodez plant and will start production of a new generation of common-rail injectors by the end of 2007. Japanese auto parts maker Ibiden will invest 16 million euros in the Courtenay plant to build its third production line for diesel production. The particle filter, the production line is expected to start in January 2009. The French automobile production label Zhi Cilong announced that it has accumulatively produced 10 million high-pressure direct-injection diesel engine vehicles. Its engines are produced in the Peugeot-Citroen Group plant in the eastern part of France. It is the world's largest diesel engine production base.
In order to comply with the demand for clean hybrid vehicles and the implementation of Euro V and Euro VI automotive emission standards, France will have more new and diverse diesel engine investment projects in the future that expect foreign investors to participate.
