A joint research team at Kyushu University and Keio University in Japan successfully developed a sensor that measures NOx at a picofarad scale with current consumption. Using 10-nanometer diameter wires, researchers conducted precise heating in nanoscale spaces and controlled the thermal delay at sub-microseconds for successful experiments. This technique can be used to detect volatile chemicals that affect human health. Due to its low energy consumption, it is possible to develop big data that can be applied to mobile terminals and collect relevant chemicals, and will create new business opportunities in the future. In the past, gas sensors were difficult to develop mobile test terminals due to the large area around the sensor for heating up to 200-300 degrees Celsius, which could not be assembled on a plastic substrate. The energy required for this technology is extremely low, so there is no problem with fitting it onto a plastic substrate.
