In the past few years, the Asia-Pacific region, with China as its main market, has grown into one of ZF’s most important markets. In fiscal year 2015, ZF (ZF) in sales in the Asia Pacific region reached 6.4 billion euros, accounting for total sales (29.2 billion euros) 1/5 or more. Taking into account the importance of the Asia-Pacific market, ZF restructured the board of directors - as of April 1, 2016, the functional departments of the Group's markets are directly responsible for the market operations in the Asia Pacific region.

Asia Pacific sales accounted for 22% of the Group's total sales and it has become one of the most important single markets of ZF. In the past two years, sales in the Asia Pacific region have more than doubled, from about 3 billion euros in 2013 to 6.4 billion euros in fiscal 2015. China is the largest secondary market in the Asia Pacific region with sales of 4.8 billion euros and 13,800 employees. ZF has a total of 17,300 employees in the Asia Pacific region. “It is expected that sales in Asia Pacific region will continue to show significant growth in 2016. China, as our most important market, has developed steadily and achieved significant growth,” said Dr. Stefan Sommer, CEO of ZF.

In response to this increasingly important and dynamic market, ZF has made adjustments to the functions of the board of directors; since April 1, 2016, board members and Peter Lake, which is responsible for the market functions of the group, have taken over board members and manpower Jürgen Holeksa, the resource function, took over the Asia-Pacific region.

ZF has always been committed to providing customers with localized system solutions and strong production support in the Asia-Pacific region to meet their growing demand for highly localized and corresponding development capabilities. At present, there is a TraXon commercial vehicle automatic transmission system for the Chinese market, and a commercial vehicle clutch system that will soon begin mass production in China in the first half of 2016.

ZF is constantly strengthening its R&D capabilities in the Asia Pacific region to achieve its goal of developing localized products for the local market. The current R&D center in Shanghai is constantly expanding. To this end, new laboratories, test stations, and offices have been added. The area after the expansion was almost quadrupled from 11,000 square meters to 54,000 square meters. In addition, the latest collision car system is also the fourth set of collision testing equipment of the Group in the world. It was officially put into operation at the technical center of ZF TRW in Anting Shanghai (ZF TRW) in mid-April this year.

All of this reflects ZF's focus on the Asia-Pacific market and is committed to providing existing and new customers with sufficient development capabilities.
