The crushing of ore is a process in which a large ore or a to-be-treated ore is broken by the action of an external force to overcome the internal intermolecular force and gradually reduce the size of the ore. In the ore dressing process, ore crushing is usually divided into two major stages: crushing ( coarse stage ) and grinding ( fine stage ) .
In the concentrator, the crushing of the ore is an indispensable material preparation stage before the sorting operation. First, most of the ore processed by the concentrator is made up of useful minerals and gangue minerals, often in fine or even fine-grained inlays. Only by pulverizing them and dissolving them fully can they be enriched by existing physical beneficiation methods. Secondly, all physical beneficiation methods are subject to particle size limitation. The particle size is too coarse
(the useful mineral and the gangue are not dissociated
) or the particle size is too fine
( that is, the fine particles are too pulverized
) can not be effectively sorted. In all aspects of the concentrator, ore crushing is the most expensive process and an important part of the investment and production costs of the concentrator. Therefore, the basic task of the ore crushing operation is to provide suitable materials for the sorting operation. The crushing process works well and directly affects the technical and economic indicators of the beneficiation.
