A research team led by Prof. Tazuru Takashi of University of Tokyo and Prof. Katsumi Koyama of Osaka University has succeeded in developing a gel organic amplification circuit with good biocompatibility. The circuit uses a new conductive gel material with minimal rejection and inflammatory response to the human body as an electrode. An organic transistor amplifier circuit is fabricated using very thin polymer film and integrated. The resulting sensor can be implanted into the body for a long time. Research confirms that with this technique, ECG signals that are very weak in the heart are also measured consistently.

The main features of the sensor is the use of a soft and highly conductive gel electrode adapted to the human body. It can be embedded in the body for a long time to increase the faint ECG signal, and can also be used as a one-off sensor for next-generation medical devices during surgery Responder. Due to the use of a thin-plate bioelectric potential measuring sensor that can be operated in the body for a long period of time, even if it is attached directly to a human organ, inflammation is seldom caused and the diseased organ is inspected under a minimum load. The researchers believe that the research results of the early detection and treatment of diseases and the next generation of medical equipment in all fields of great significance.

With the rapid development of science and technology, sensors have been applied to measure various information in daily life. In recent years, in particular, the measurement of physiological information represented by wearable sensors has rapidly increased and has entered the fields of healthcare, medical care and nursing. In the medical field, implantable sensors are gaining more and more attention. Implanting the sensor into the body can not only help the body work properly, but it can also detect and prevent disease in advance. At present, implanted electronic devices such as pacemakers and artificial inner ear have been widely used. However, it is very difficult for the long-term implantation of electronic devices in the human body due to the exclusion of foreign bodies by the human immune system. Nowadays, implantable electronic devices are mostly made of high-hardness silicon material. Researchers are now developing the next generation of organic materials with higher affinity and softer body.
