Solar wind power key technology will be supported

China has clearly defined the technological development direction and support focus in the field of renewable energy during the “12th Five-Year Plan” period. Many technologies, including key technologies for solar thermal power generation, will receive government support.

Chen Shuoyi, director of the Energy Division of the High Technology Center of the Ministry of Science and Technology, made the above statement at the annual meeting of the China Resources Comprehensive Utilization Association Renewable Energy Professional Committee and the China Renewable Energy Society Industrial Working Committee held on January 12.

According to Chen Shuoyi, during the "12th Five-Year Plan" period, in the field of renewable energy, the Chinese government will focus on supporting eight technical directions in five fields: solar energy, wind power, biomass, ocean energy, and geothermal energy.

In terms of solar energy, the Ministry of Science and Technology will focus on supporting low-cost films represented by silicon-based, cadmium telluride and other thin-film battery preparations and key technologies for the industrialization of new solar cells; 100-megawatt-class large scale projects represented by power station design, operation, and protection. Key technologies and equipment for grid-connected photovoltaic power plants; and key technologies for solar thermal power stations at Jiwa (1 GW = 1 million kW).

In fact, China is stepping up the pace of utilization of solar thermal power generation, and the country’s first tender for solar thermal power generation concession project will be opened on the 20th of this month.

At the National Energy Work Conference held earlier this month, Zhang Guobao, director of the National Energy Administration, also stated that during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period, trials of solar thermal power generation will be carried out in suitable areas in Inner Mongolia, Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang, and Tibet.

In terms of wind power, Chen Shuoyi said that during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China will focus on supporting onshore wind farms that are key technologies for wind turbines, including 3 MW onshore wind turbines, 5 MW offshore wind turbines, on-site wind turbine test platforms, and reactive power compensation And low voltage ride through technologies, as well as key technologies for offshore wind power.

The Ministry of Science and Technology will also give priority to supporting key technologies for the preparation of biomass liquid fuels with non-food diversity and clean and efficient conversion processes.

Ma Longlong, deputy director of the Guangzhou Institute of Energy Resources of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, said here that compared to other renewable energy sources, biomass energy can be used to produce fuel in addition to electricity. Therefore, in the future, the development of biomass energy in China will focus on the development of biomass liquids. Mainly gas and solid fuels.

In addition, the 10,000-kilowatt ocean power generation technology and low-temperature utilization of geothermal energy and medium-high-temperature power generation technology will also receive key support from the Ministry of Science and Technology.
