With this new technology, the time required for Hyundai Heavy Industries to cast a propeller can be shortened from two weeks to one week; three skilled workers can cast 40 propellers per year. According to a person in charge of Hyundai Heavy Industries: "The company is currently developing a new type of propeller made of composite materials, with the goal of producing a 25% light weight propeller in 2018. The company will continue its efforts to develop technology and improve quality. Maintain its position in the global propeller market."

It is reported that Hyundai Heavy Industries recently held the production ceremony of the 5000th propeller (purchasing and supply of products) at its Ulsan factory. The 5,000th propeller has a diameter of 10.6 meters and a weight of 77 tons. It is planned to be installed at the end of February on a 300,000 dwt VLCC built for Greece's Thenaris.
